Consent and visibility choices

Account terms and privacy information

Completing account setup requires accepting the terms of service and acknowledging the privacy notice. We record their version labels with that action. This is separate from choosing whether to appear publicly or permit optional uses of your information.

Public profile and leaderboard

A public profile and leaderboard visibility are separate choices. Where enabled, they permit the relevant public page to show your handle and the profile or performance information described by that control. Account email and authentication identifiers are not part of that permission.

These choices start off. Leaving them off does not prevent you from creating an account. Turning visibility off stops future authorized display subject to the page updating; visitors may retain copies they already made.

Newsletter attribution

The newsletter-feature choice lets editorial features identify you when describing your forecasting performance. It is separate from appearing on the leaderboard and separate from subscribing to receive a newsletter.

Turning it off prevents new use under that permission. A newsletter already delivered to readers cannot be recalled from every recipient's inbox.

Research-dataset participation

Where this option is offered, it permits eligible contributions to enter the research-dataset workflow described in the privacy notice. It is not a condition of ordinary account creation and is off unless you choose it.

The permission does not authorize publication of your email or authentication identifiers. Withdrawal must be applied to future eligible exports and handled for existing artifacts under the applicable dataset and privacy-request process. This policy does not itself start external dataset distribution.

Product analytics

Optional product analytics helps the team understand how the product is used. You can grant or decline it using privacy preferences and change that choice later. Global Privacy Control prevents an analytics grant in that browser.

Declining analytics does not disable the security, authentication and operational processing necessary to provide the service. Your forecast content, passwords and sign-in tokens must not be sent as product analytics.

Changing your choices

Review the available account choices in Settings and browser analytics choices through Privacy preferences. A choice may be saved separately in your account and in a browser, so check both when using another device.

We retain a record of grants and withdrawals, their dates and the relevant policy version so that use can be checked against your choices. Withdrawing one permission does not turn off unrelated permissions or automatically close your account.
